The ERA & SRE Experience: Lessons Learnt

|
Institutions have spent the majority of the year putting into place business approaches and suitable systems to enable them to prepare and complete their Excellence in Research for Australia submissions, whilst at the same time completing their SRE submissions.
Due to numerous requests the Collaborative Research Administrators Group (CRAG) will be holding a single day forum to bring together the various stakeholders in the ERA and SRE processes from all perspectives and provide details on their institutional experiences. We will also be looking to provide constructive feedback and ideas to the ARC and DIISR from all delegates attending in an attempt to improve processes for future submissions.
This Forum provides an opportunity for people involved in managing research data and repositories for the ERA and also data managers and finance staff involved with the SRE to compare and contrast their approaches and discuss issues of interest and as a collective to provide understanding/clarity in areas of concern.
A program for the day can be found below.

Forum Details
To be held: Thursday 21st October 2010
Time: 9:30am - 4:00pm
Location: Canberra - 11 Lancaster Place, Majura Park, Canberra Airport, Canberra.
Room: The Majura Theatre
What the forum is about
The ERA & SRE Experience: Lesson's Learnt forum will include:
- Case Studies from the Research, Data, and Repository administrators on ERA issues, solutions put in place, data management and future ERA challenges.
- Case Studies from the Data and Finance administrators regarding the SRE, survey techniques, issues, data quality, future SRE challenges.
- Internal use of data collected - ERA and SRE.
- ERA Discussion - Feeback to ARC
- Presentation from DIISR on SRE
What this event is not - This event is not to discuss specific content of institutional returns for ERA or the SRE. It is designed to share and discuss the common elements and approaches that universities undertook and should consider while preparing future submissions. It should allow us as a group to provide constructive feedback to both the ARC and DIISR for future collections. At this point in time, as data analysis is still underway for both the ERA and SRE, DIISR and the ARC will not be able to provide actual outcomes from the 2010 collections at this forum. However, DIISR will be presenting on their experience with the SRE to date, and ARC representatives will be present to listen to feedback.
What Will I get out of it?
- the opportunity to learn from colleagues regarding differing approaches to the ERA and the SRE
- the chance for people to validate their approaches, compare notes and provide feedback to both DIISR and the ARC
- open discussion on issues related to the ERA & SRE
- networking opportunities
