The Finance Systems Group (FSG) held its second meeting of the year at the Gold Coast in early August, the day after the HES Finance and Procurement Conference. The meeting provided FSG members with the opportunity to share in a broader view of university topics and issues.
Jennifer Gartland of Western Sydney University was endorsed as the new chair of the group commencing January 1, 2018 and the budget for 2018 was accepted.
A workshop by Unilink on advanced usage, hints and tips for OneStop Secure Cashiering System was also arranged in conjunction with this meeting. The workshop was attended by six participants from four member universities. The group continues to focus on functional/business training, integration and the general sharing of issues and solutions that occur when managing large finance systems. The group has identified training providers and negotiated collaborative pricing discounts. Further training and workshops will be scheduled for 2018, once they are agreed upon.
The next FSG meeting in November will be extended to allow for a Case Study from Edith Cowan University and Queensland University of Technology. The group will also determine ways to increase participation in the group from other universities.
