Specialist, Technical and Industrial Gases Offer

In December 2004, the HES Board has signed off on an Agreement with Coregas Pty Ltd (formerly Linde Gas until February 2007) as the preferred supplier to Australian Universities for the supply of their range of specialist, technical and industrial gases.

This agreement came at the end of a rigorous tender and evaluation process conducted by members of the AUPC Gases Advisory Group with a membership drawn from Monash University, Adelaide University, Queensland University and Charles Darwin University.

Significant price and efficiency benefits

According to the benchmarking process and detailed spend analysis carried out by the evaluation team, universities will find significant savings offered under the national agreement. Flexible rental options and cutting edge technology including individual cylinder control will drive efficiency improvements.

Price increases are permitted under the Agreement, with increases based on a formula that generally means the increase is just less than the CPI. Affected customers will be given one months notice of a price increase.

Tender cost savings

The tender process took into account as far as possible, the policy and tendering requirements of Australian universities to enable universities to nominate Coregas (formerly Linde Gases Pty Ltd) as a preferred supplier without the need for any further competitive processes. Nevertheless, it is expected that universities will review the processes to ensure that the process undertaken is compliant with each university's own procurement requirements.

Standardised contract documents

Any university wishing to take advantage of the special pricing contract will be required to use the standard Procurement and Supply Agreement documents which have been negotiated with Coregas Pty Ltd so that an individual university can sign on to the Agreement without the need to develop an individual supply agreement.

Easier compliance and risk management

The contracts are for the "Managed supply" of Linde Products and contain rigorous provisions relating to compliance, allocation of risk and management of liability.
