Sustainable Research Excellence (SRE) - Sector Wide Forum

Higher Ed Services, in conjunction with DIISR, the Collaborative Research Administrators Group (CRAG), the Finance Systems Network (FSN), and the Human Resources Information Systems Group (HRIS) held a one day sector wide forum to bring together the key players from each institutions. The key players being representatives from Research, Human Resources and Financial areas to discuss the implementation and understanding of the SRE in greater detail. This forum improved understanding of the SRE and allowed delegates to discuss with others what measures have been, or are going to be, undertaken in other institutions.

As you are all aware the Sustainable Research Excellence initiative was announced by the Australian Government in the 2009-10 Budget as part of a suite of measures to enhance university research. Over the four years 2009-10 to 2012-13, $510 million will be provided under the SRE program to support universities in meeting the indirect costs of their Australian Competitive Grant (ACG) research activities.

This Forum provided an opportunity for all key stakeholders involved in managing the SRE for your institutions to compare and contrast approaches, share understanding and knowledge, and discuss issues of interest and concern.
