AVCC Chief Executive Officer - new appointment

The Australian Vice-Chancellors' Committee (AVCC) this week welcomes Mr David Rome as its Chief Executive Officer.
David Rome has been appointed Chief Executive Officer until 30 June 2007 as the AVCC moves forward with its transition to Universities Australia.

Mr Rome comes to the AVCC with considerable hands-on experience as a senior administrator in the university sector. He served as Business Manager of Murdoch University in the early 1990s and most recently was Vice-Principal (Administration) at the University of Wollongong for the period 1996-2005.

His involvement in the higher education sector has been complemented by extensive experience in Commonwealth Government positions, most recently as a Senior Executive in Administrative Services and earlier in Foreign Affairs, National Development and Energy, and the Office of the Commonwealth Ombudsman.

Mr Rome will also act as Company Secretary for Higher Ed Systems.
