I am committed to building collaboration and innovation in Higher Education through the delivery of sector wide projects, the coordination of interest groups, and the sharing of information and expertise. My role at Higher Ed Services is to ensure that we add value to the sector by making operational the policy initiatives of Universities Australia. We achieve this by fostering innovation through sector wide collaboration projects. Working together we can drive greater efficiency and better outcomes for the higher education sector of Australia.
I was appointed Chief Executive Officer of Higher Ed Services in July 2016. Since then the team and I have been working hard to make HES a responsive and valuable partner to universities and the broader higher education sector.
We provide a suite of high quality professional services and support initiatives that benefit Australia’s universities and strengthen the nation’s higher education sector. This is achieved by our team of dedicated professionals whose breadth of sector experience help us identify and deliver cost effective solutions and drive good practice. Fostering and promoting collaboration is central to all Higher Ed Services’ activities.

Senior Business Consultant
Scott Boulton has an extensive background in management and as a Human Resources generalist, with a work history in the private sector and for more than 10 years in a university environment. Scott has qualifications in Business and Information Technology, and in recent years has worked as a Business Analyst on IT projects for the Queensland University of Technology.
Scott’s main areas of responsibility at HES include is the HR Information Systems Group, which covers 18 public universities and supporting the Australian University Procurement Network (AUPN).

Senior Business Consultant
Stephen Callaghan joined HES in May 2017 after 15 years at Queensland University of Technology initially as the IT auditor of the University and for the past 10 years in HR as a member of the University’s HR Executive team providing advice and support for the HR technology initiatives of the University. Stephen also participated in many university IT governance, planning, projects and enterprise architecture activities. He also ran the superannuation function.
Stephen was previously a Senior Manager at Ernst & Young and other chartered accounting firms over a 25 year period. Stephen recently completed a substantial project for HES to better understand the propensity of the sector to consume Human Capital Management solutions.

Drew joined HES in 2019 to lead the establishment and delivery of a portfolio of new advisory services. Delivered by HES and leveraging its extensive network of industry subject matter experts and industry focus groups, these services will be geared towards areas of common concern and opportunity for higher education providers.
Drew is a committed professional advisor to the Education and Public Sector, working with a range of clients from central government through to government agencies and not-for-profits. He has focused on servicing Australian Universities for the past 8 years. Prior to joining HES, Drew held the role of National lead Risk Advisory Partner for the Higher Education sector at Deloitte Australia.
Drew has advised education sector organisations including the Department of Education and Training (VIC, NSW, ACT and NT), over 20 Universities and a range of TAFE and RTO organisations. He prides himself in his focus on working closely with his clients to develop pragmatic, tailored solutions that are sustainable and cost effective.
He has worked broadly on issues ranging from financial sustainability, shared service design and governance, funding model design/policy, risk management service model design, cutting regulatory red tape and developing advanced performance reporting.

Jacqui Elson-Green is responsible for developing initiatives that focus on quality in learning and teaching and is the Program Director of HES’ Higher Education Quality Network (HEQN). She also looks after communications and media relations. Jacqui has expertise in communications, strategic planning, government and community relationships and building networks.
Jacqui has worked in the Australian higher education sector for more than 25 years including holding senior roles at a number of universities and as a general manager at IDP Education Australia. She is a former editor of Campus Review and was the Director of Communication and Engagement at the Australian Learning and Teaching Council.

Business Development Manager - Events
Karen Hanna is responsible for the development, digital marketing and logistical operations of HES events. Her expertise and passion for service excellence is the result of 20 years experience as a professional conference organiser (PCO) and event manager. Karen has experience across a range of industries and has worked across the country for a diverse range of client groups. Karen executes events with efficiency, professionalism and an attention to the 'little things' to ensure a seamless flow and positive experience for participants and clients.
Karen officially joined HES in 2013 after contracting to HES as sponsorship and exhibition coordinator for 7 years as an independent consultant. A business graduate of Southern Cross University, her early career was forged with Norsearch Conference Services, Southern Cross University.

Lynne Pike-Overall provides administrative, accounting and organisational support to the team of professionals at Higher Ed Services.She has back ground in administration and accounting with over 20 years’ experience in the private and finance sector, including the role of Asia Pacific Operations Manager –Accounts Payable, for the National Australian Bank, in Melbourne.This experience, along with other senior roles in voluntary community work, provides capability in Accounts, Team Management, Event Management, and all aspects of general administration.

Jay Segeth is Program Director of the My eQuals Digital Student Data Management initiative (myequals.edu.au). Jay joined HES in October 2016, after HES was appointed the managing organisation for this whole-of-sector collaboration.
Prior to joining HES, Jay has been working in a consulting capacity in the Higher Education sector for close to 15 years. Most recently before joining HES, Jay led the Education practice of a large professional services firm, providing leadership and guidance to a wide range of initiatives with sector clients, covering administrative reform and performance improvement, IT strategic planning, process re-engineering and business case development.
